Each-Presec Scholar Award Program

      About  Us

EACH-PRESEC Scholar Award Program is the result of a partnership between EACH (Educational Accessibility for Children in Hardship) Foundation and alumni of Presbyterian Boys's Secondary School. The Each-Foundation makes scholarships available to brilliant but underprivileged primary, junior and senior secondary school students in Ghana.

EACH-PRESEC specifically focuses on the exceptional students of Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School, Legon-Accra, Ghana. Scholarship recipients receive an award that helps fund their educational expenses, are assigned mentors and are awarded a book prize.

EACH-Presec is a partnership between EACH ( Educational Accessibility for Children ) and Odadee to promote education in our Alma Mater. EACH is a registered non-profit organization in the US that was founded by alumni of Presec for promoting education on the continent. This page provides information on our history and organizational structure.

                            History

The roots of EACH are well embedded in a few alumni of Presec who have worked together to promote education in their alma mater. There has always been a strong desire among Odadee to contribute towards the development of Presec. However, this desire has been translated into action less frequently than one might expect. With a vision of promoting educational advancement in Presec, a few Odadee: Emmanuel Amos Abanyie, Edwin Amonoo and Franklin Adatsi decided to work together to show how team work, even among a few dedicated individuals could make a difference. Between 2003 and 2004, Emmanuel, Edwin and Franklin (all juniors in College) embarked on the "Presec Project" (see last year's Odadee newsletter for more details) to inspire and promote quality education in Presec.

This project bore fruit to the creation of a need/academic based scholarship scheme, a mentorship program, the Odadee newsletter, furnishing of the presec library, among other things. At the same time, Emmanuel Amos-Abanyie had stated a service project in Davidson College called EACH. This organization raised funds to support underprivileged kids through JSS. In the summer of 2004, Emmanuel proposed the idea of forming a non-profit organization to incorporate our interests under one umbrella. They worked together to lay the foundation for this non profit organisation and adopted the name EACH for it. Since then, EACH has received both state and federal recognition in the United States of America. EACH-Presec was created to open up the organization (EACH) to all Odadee interested in supporting the development of quality education in Presec.

              Organizational Structure

EACH-Presec was officially formed to open up the non-profit organization to all Odadee who are interested in playing a role in the development of Presec and be part of the Presec success story. EACH-Presec has a very open structure where Odadee can take initiatives that will have positive impact on Presecans and Odadee. By organizing resources and coordinating ideas and initiatives among Odadee, we hope to increase the effectiveness and successfulness of our programs.

EACH-Presec has a very flat organizational structure. We have about about ten Odadee volunteers who serve as officers. EACH officers volunteer to serve of various committees including, the Scholarship committee, fundraising/financing committee, web development committee etc. Various committees meet to draw out programs that are discussed and approved at general meetings held once every month.
